Grindpad was formed in 2006, playing a mix of death thrash. They released two EPs before winning the Dutch Metal Battle in 2010. After this, the band decided to focus more on the music they truly wanted to make and were passionate about. This resulted in some changes and a stronger focus on thrash metal with hardcore and speed metal influences. The new Grindpad was heavily influenced by bands like Exodus, Slayer, Pantera, Metallica, and Agnostic Front.
After recruiting ex-Sinister drummer Paul Beltman, the band released the Sharkbite! EP in 2017. With cover art drawn by Ed Repka, this EP was met with great acclaim worldwide. Reviews regularly praised the strong songwriting, tight guitar riffs, energy, and aggression on display.
On stage, Grindpad explodes with the same energy and has made a name for themselves with their energetic live shows.
In 2020, Grindpad teamed up with Iron Shield Records for the release of Violence, their first full-length album, produced by Jörg Uken at Soundlodge Studios, with Ed Repka once again handling the artwork.
2023 saw the release of the EP Finger Collector Crew to great acclaim—a strong display of aggression and power. It also featured covers from local heroes De Waonzin and the legends Anthrax.
After the release Paul had to step down from the drums and Max was quickly able to step up and reinforce Grindpad.
In 2024, Grindpad surprised the world with the first thrash Christmas anthem: X-mas Mosh! For the vinyl re-release of Violence, they added this as a bonus track, together with a throwback to the early Grindpad days: Cephalopod Idolator.
Axel has since stepped down to make big life changes and Grindpad continued as a four piece machine of energy and aggression.
Grindpad is currently rocking stages across Europe, with 2026 looking to be one of the busiest years to date.
